Our application along with a current resume and cover letter can be completed and returned to Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Fifield at the Auburn Fire Department, 550 Minot Ave., Auburn, Maine 04210; or e-mailed to mfifield@auburnmaine.gov OR you can APPLY ONLINE.

Applicants must be 19 years of age and have completed high school or have passed a high school equivalency exam.  Candidates must have a valid driver license, have a good driving record and hold at least a current Basic EMT License. Candidates with Paramedic License and Firefighter I and II certifications preferred.  Applicants must have a valid Maine EMS license or have the ability to receive reciprocity before being considered a candidate for the City of Auburn.  Paramedics not currently certified as firefighters must obtain firefighter certification within one year of hire with the City of Auburn. 

UPDATED (4.7.20) Upcoming Recruitment Info -

For the safety and health of our staff and candidates, and due to the current social distancing restrictions, our upcoming Physical Agility Tests have been RESCHEDULED for June 2, 2020 and June 6, 2020 – times are TBA.  We have also EXTENDED the application deadline to May 25, 2020. 

(See updates above) An upcoming Physical Agility Test and recruitment has been rescheduled scheduled for April 14, 2020 and April 18, 2020 June 2, 2020 and June 6, 2020 - times are TBA. Deadline for return of completed application packets is Friday, April 10, 2020 Monday, May 25, 2020. A complete application packet consists of an application, current resume and cover letter. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications can attend one or both of the test dates.  If a candidate attends the 4/14/20 June 2, 2020 test and fails to pass, the candidate can try again by attending the 4/18/20 June 6, 2020 test. In the same respect, if a candidate attends and passes the 4/14/20 June 2, 2020 test, he/she does not need to attend the second test on 4/18/20 on June 6, 2020.
