Auburn's Communications, Technology & Community Engagement Department blends Auburn's Information Technology functions with Communications and community engagement. 

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY  |  Recognizing the increasingly sophisticated needs and expectations of our staff and community, Auburn is deeply committed to IT, and our staff is second to none. We embrace our mission to provide other city departments with the data processing skills and tools necessary to best perform their functions. With a dedication to customer service and cybersecurity, our IT professionals view our role as one of support to all other municipal offices.

                                                     

COMMUNICATIONS & ENGAGEMENT  |  Our communications professionals develop and maintain community and media relations and present municipal information to the public. Using a variety of multimedia outlets, our team works to develop and implement strategies that positively promote civic engagement, internal communication and municipal transparency through the delivery of accurate, consistent and timely information about the City of Auburn.

CTCE is a full-service municipal department, providing strategic and tactical communication solutions for citywide and department-level initiatives.  We also provide technologies that support the efficient delivery of quality municipal services while minimizing our investment and ongoing support costs.  We design, plan, and implement effective and efficient use of technology to assist the city with accomplishing its strategic goals and business objectives, thus maximizing value to the citizens of Auburn.

The Communications, Technology & Community Engagement Department manages:

  • City website, auburnmaine.gov
  • Auburn's social media presence
  • All municipal hardware and software
  • Data analytics and visualization
  • ESRI mapping, hub initiatives, storymaps, and more
  • Video content and other programming for Great Falls Television
  • Accreditation coordination and maintenance for the Auburn Police, Public Works & Fire Departments
  • Auburn's community outreach and special events
  • Filming & broadcast of City Council meetings
  • Media relations
  • The City's "Alert Me" email and text subscription service
  • Emergency response and notifications
  • Special events planning & much more

Other roles and responsibilities include newsletters, publications, press releases, speeches, videos, and support of all other city departments. In addition, CTCE provides public relations support and media relations counsel to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager's Office. 

Serving as the vital link between local government and the people of Auburn, our goal is to effectively communicate and promote Auburn government policies and programs.
