State of Maine Reimbursement Checks for Homestead Property

2019 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION REIMBURSEMENT CHECKS

Maine law establishes, "The Property Tax Relief Fund for Maine Residents" when the fund reaches a target balance the Treasurer of State is required by March 1 to mail checks for tax relief payment to each owner of a qualifying Homestead. This year Homeowners who qualified for the Homestead Exemption for the 2019 tax year will be receiving a check in the amount of $104. The check will be mailed by the State Treasurer’s office directly to the Homeowner.

According to the State Treasurer’s facebook page Auburn will be in the first batch of checks to be distributed. Information and updates concerning the checks will be posted at https://ww.facebook.com/MaineOST/. In addition there is a hotline available between 8:30 and 4:00 Monday thru Friday for inquiries concerning the checks. The number is 207-624-7477.
