Construction Projects
Last update: March 16, 2026
Reconstruction Projects
These projects are typically performed on urban streets where a closed drainage system (catch basins, underground pipes, etc.) is required. These projects can be very complex since other underground utilities are present and requires a high level of coordination and scheduling. Besides drainage, these projects also include: excavation of old gravels and pavement surfaces, installation of new gravels and pavements, curbing, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, signage, and striping. Since most general contractors do not perform all aspects of a project, multiple subcontractors are used for specialty work. Scheduling can become a complicated task especially when work is sometimes performed at night. The following is a list of current reconstruction projects within the City:
-
2025 Reconstruction Project – Granite Street - Fern Street to Hillsdale Street, Davis Avenue – Lake Street to end, Hillsdale Street – Granite Street to Lake Street. This project includes reconstruction of the road and sidewalk, drainage upgrades, slipform curbing, and utility upgrades. Gendron will restart the project in May 2026. Remaining items include finishing sidewalk paving, road surface paving, pavement striping, and pedestrian warning plates.
-
Merrow Road Reconstruction Project – Hotel Road to Minot Avenue. This project includes reconstruction of the road, drainage upgrades, and utility upgrades. The commercial section of Merrow Road will commence in 2026. Gendron will restart the project in May 2026. The surface paving of the residential side will be scheduled after the commercial portion is base paved. Work will begin on the commercial section starting with drainage upgrades.
- Loring Avenue - Seventh Street to South Main Street. Bedard was awarded the contract with a completion date of 10/16/2026. Bedard to begin April 15, 2026.
Reclamation Projects
These projects are typically performed on rural roadways where an open drainage system (culverts, ditches and inslopes) is more practical. These projects consist of replacement of existing culverts, pulverization of the existing roadway surface, stabilization fabric, additional layer of surface gravel, new pavements, gravel shoulders, ditching and striping. The following is a list of current reclamation projects within the City:
- 2025 Reclamation Project – Perkins Ridge Road – Garfield Road to West Shore Road. This project includes reclamation and reconstruction of the road with upgrades to drainage and some curbing installation. Surface paving of roadway and driveway matches scheduled for May/June of 2026. Shoulder gravel will be installed subsequently.
- 2026 Reclamation Project - Allied Road – Washington Street North to End. This project includes reclamation and reconstruction of the road with upgrades to drainage and some curbing installation. Manzer’s Fine Grade & Earthwork was awarded the bid and plans to begin construction the first week of May.
Pavement Restoration Projects
These projects are performed on roadways that require a surface maintenance. Milling (removal of 2” of existing roadway surface) is completed prior to repaving where curbing is present. Where curbing is not present, the roadway is shimmed and repaved. Once the pavement is installed, the roadway is striped. The following is a list of current pavement restoration projects within the City:
- Great Falls Plaza – Turner Street to Court Street. Work to begin summer 2026.
- Turner Street – Joline Drive to Lillian Street. Work to begin summer 2026.
