Construction Projects
Reconstruction Projects
These projects are typically performed on urban streets where a closed drainage system (catch basins, underground pipes, etc.) is required. These projects can be very complex since other underground utilities are present and requires a high level of coordination and scheduling. Besides drainage, these projects also include: excavation of old gravels and pavement surfaces, installation of new gravels and pavements, curbing, sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, signage, and striping. Since most general contractors do not perform all aspects of a project, multiple subcontractors are used for specialty work. Scheduling can become a complicated task especially when work is sometimes performed at night. The following is a list of current reconstruction projects within the City:
- 2025 Reconstruction Project – Granite Street - Fern Street to Hillsdale Street, Davis Avenue – Lake Street to end, Hillsdale Street – Granite Street to Lake Street. This project includes reconstruction of the road and sidewalk, drainage upgrades, slipform curbing, and utility upgrades. Gendron completed driveway and sidewalk surface paving. Installation of loam and seed scheduled to begin the week of June 29.
- Merrow Road Reconstruction Project – Hotel Road to Minot Avenue. This project includes reconstruction of the road, drainage upgrades, and utility upgrades. Gendron plans to begin June 2025 on the residential portion of the road. The commercial section of Merrow Road will commence in 2026. The surface paving of the residential side will be scheduled after the commercial portion is base paved. Gendron continues to match driveways into the new first layers of road pavement. Installation of a new box culvert is schedule for July 20 and will require a hard closure at the small stream west of the westerly driveway for 101 Merrow Road (Futureguard).
- Loring Avenue Reconstruction Project – Seventh Street to South Main Street. Bedard was awarded the contract with a completion date of 10/16/2026. Bedard Excavation plans to pave surface early July and follow with driveway matches into the new paved road surface.
Reclamation Projects
These projects are typically performed on rural roadways where an open drainage system (culverts, ditches and inslopes) is more practical. These projects consist of replacement of existing culverts, pulverization of the existing roadway surface, stabilization fabric, additional layer of surface gravel, new pavements, gravel shoulders, ditching and striping. The following is a list of current reclamation projects within the City:
- 2025 Reclamation Project – Perkins Ridge Road – Garfield Road to West Shore Road. This project includes reclamation and reconstruction of the road with upgrades to drainage and some curbing installation. Project Complete.
- 2026 Reclamation Project - Allied Road – Washington Street North to End. This project includes reclamation and reconstruction of the road with upgrades to drainage and some curbing installation. Project Complete.
Pavement Restoration Projects
These projects are performed on roadways that require a surface maintenance. Milling (removal of 2” of existing roadway surface) is completed prior to repaving where curbing is present. Where curbing is not present, the roadway is shimmed and repaved. Once the pavement is installed, the roadway is striped. The following is a list of current pavement restoration projects within the City. All streets listed are under the same contract; work will begin in late July.
- Great Falls Plaza – Turner Street to Court Street. Work to begin summer 2026.
- Turner Street – Joline Drive to Lillian Street. Work to begin summer 2026.
