June 9, 2026 - School Budget Validation Referendum &  State of Maine Primary Election
  • All polling places will be open from 7:00am until 8:00pm on Election Day.
  • In-person absentee voting will begin at Auburn Hall starting May 11.
  • The last day to request an absentee ballot without cause is Thursday, June 4.
  • All absentee ballots must be returned to the City Clerk's office by 8:00pm on Election Day.
IMPORTANT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION FOR THE JUNE 9 PRIMARY ELECTION:
  • Voters enrolled in a political party will receive their party's primary ballot.  If you are enrolled in a party which does not have a ballot for the primary, you will not receive a primary ballot.
  • Unenrolled voters (registered to vote but not enrolled in a political party) may choose which party's primary ballot they wish to vote at the time of making an absentee ballot request or at their polling place on election day.
  • The deadline to register to vote or change voter registration information by online, mail or 3rd party is May 19, 2026.  After this date, all voter registration changes must be made in person at the City Clerk's office up until election day.  On election day, you may register to vote at your polling place and vote.
  • If you wish to withdraw from your political party or change parties, you must do so on or before May 22, 2026.   You will not be able to switch parties or withdraw from your party after this date or on election day and receive the new party ballot.
  • If you are 17, but will turn 18 on or before the date of the General Election (November 3, 2026), you may vote in the Primary election - however, you will not be eligible to receive a School Budget Validation Referendum ballot.
Voters are encouraged to check the status of their voter registration prior to the election by calling the City Clerk's office at (207) 333-6601.
