Citizens Police Academy
The Auburn Police Department is proud to offer the Citizens Police Academy.
Apply now! Our next session is scheduled to begin on March 16!
This exciting ten week program for residents of Auburn offers insight into how police officers perform their duties and how the APD serves our community. CPA consists of one class each Monday from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the APD.
All instructors are members of the law enforcement profession and will present material on the following topics (subject to change):
BASIC PATROL FUNCTIONS
USE OF FORCE (LETHAL, LESS THAN LETHAL)
OUI DETECTION AND ENFORCEMENT
CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and much more!
'Graduates' of the Academy learn about the structure and activities of the department, share their knowledge with their family and friends, and quite often go on to become volunteers with the department. This is a true 'behind-the-scenes' look at the APD.
The Citizens Police Academy is intended to be an overview of the Auburn Police Department’s functions and operations. Participants will not be trained as police officers. Class size is limited and will be filled on a first-come basis. Participants must attend at least eight classes to pass the Citizens Police Academy.
A background check will be performed on ALL applicants. Applicants with felony convictions or extensive criminal backgrounds will not be accepted.
