Lyme Disease Prevention Tips

Our City's Health and Public Safety Team cares about the well being of our citizens and the prevention of Lyme disease.  Ticks are widespread this year and those that transmit Lyme disease can occasionally transmit other tickborne diseases as well.  Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.  To help ensure that your summer is a safe one, please take a moment and review the CDC website for more information.
