Government  Vacant House Checks

Vacant House Checks

The Auburn Police Department reminds residents that the department offers vacant house checks for Auburn residents who leave their homes unoccupied for the winter season or other extended periods of time.

This service offers vacationing homeowners some peace of mind and reassures them that all is well back at home.

Historically, APD officers have performed these home checks. The APD is pleased to announce that our Citizen Patrol - members of our highly-acclaimed Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program - now perform some or all of the vacant house checks. These individuals of high moral character have been screened and receive extensive training prior to serving the community in this capacity.

Auburn residents wishing to sign up for the vacant house check service can do so by visiting the Auburn Police Department at 60 Court Street and filling out a short enrollment form. Residents wishing to use our Citizen Online Reporting System can complete the form online by clicking here.
