AUBURN’S CONSERVATION COMMISSION PARKS SUBCOMMITTEE INVITES YOU TO:
Studies show that walking for about 30 minutes a day can have huge health benefits. Walking can not only help burn calories and reduce weight, but can also lower the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancers. It can also increase heart activity and lower blood pressure. Walking in nature can boost your mood and reduce stress. So, grab a friend or family member, put on your walking shoes, leave your phone behind, and breathe in the fresh air as you walk around one of Auburn’s beautiful park spaces.
Children must be accommpanied by an adult on hosted walks. Please follow all CDC-recommended precautions, including masks and social distancing.
7:30am | Falcon Trails:
Park behind Auburn Middle School (near the soccer fields) and meet host Mary LaFontaine at the far end of the parking lot adjacent to the woods. This trail is NOT paved but is easy to manage (small elevation at end). Great for photographers!
10:00am | Pond Building
A walk for all ages. Visit Pettengill Park's playgrounds, pond and hiking trails. Hosted by Auburn's Age Friendly Community Committee.
12:00pm | Festival Plaza
Meet near the pond building in Pettengill Park. Join the United New Auburn Association and Auburn's Age Friendly Community Committee as we visit the park's two playgrounds, pond and hiking trails.
2:00pm | Anniversary Park to Raymond Park
Join host Joanne Sabourin for a brief walk from one of New Auburn's parks to another, just a short distance away.
3:30pm | Knight House
Join host David Griswold & Lewiston-Auburn Community Forest Board for a walk to the Knight House, up to West Pitch, to the old railroad bridge and back. View Auburn’s Story Walk, Museum in the Streets and Festival Plaza. Meet at the parking lot by the Transportation Center.
