Less than a year after joining the City of Auburn as Assistant City Manager, Denise Clavette is embracing a new professional opportunity.

On Wednesday, City Manager Peter Crichton announced to Auburn staff that Clavette had taken a position with the City of Saco as Director of Planning and Economic Development.

“I thank Denise for her contributions over the past several months and all of us wish her well,” said Crichton.

The City will be advertising the position of Assistant City Manager. “The hiring process is extensive, but this is a vital role within our team,” said Crichton. “We want to continue our forward momentum and we will be seeking a highly-qualified candidate to help us achieve even greater heights.”

Clavette, a University of Maine graduate, has experience in economic development, serving as Economic Development Director for the Towns of Brunswick and Yarmouth before joining the team in Auburn. She lives in Old Orchard Beach with her husband, Larry Mead, who serves as town manager for Old Orchard Beach.

Clavette's last day with Auburn will be June 6.
