2019 Sales and Transfers

Did you know that real estate ownership in the State of Maine is assessed as of April 1 each year? If you purchased a property between April 2, 2018 and April 1, 2019 your name appeared on the 2019 tax bill. If you purchased after April 1, your ownership of the property will appear on the 2020 tax bill (sales and transfers after April 1 are not committed until the following year).

If you purchased a property make sure you let us know your correct mailing address and contact us to find out if you qualify for any property tax exemptions.

To see the transfer lists from prior years, you can visit the Assessing Page - click on ‘Sales & Transfers’ in the left hand column. Presently we have sales data back to 2015. Click here for a pdf of the 2019 list so far: 2019 Sales through August 30

The City of Auburn compiles these sales and transfers throughout the year. The list provided includes all known sales and transfers. On the list you will find good open market sales but also other real estate transfers that have no (or low) consideration paid. Included in the list are: open market sales, private party sales, corrective deeds, family transfers, divorce transfers, package sales, inter-LLC transfers, foreclosures and more. In short, any transfer where ownership of a property was changed or corrected. Real estate transactions that included more than one property are highlighted in yellow on the spreadsheet (aka package sales or aggregate sales).

While some sales and other types of transfers are not considered 'arms-length' this list does not report a finding whether any sale or transfer was deemed to be an arms-length-transaction.

Most of the sales and transfers on the list comes from the monthly State of Maine Transfer Tax Declarations. The Assessing Division regards the information to be correct, but does not certify the data. Any user of the sales and transfer list is responsible for their own verification of transfer terms and conditions.
