Citizens Police Academy

The Auburn Police Department is proud to offer the Citizens' Police Academy. Our next session is scheduled to begin Monday, March 16, 2015. This ten week program consists of one class each Monday from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the APD. All instructors are members of the law enforcement profession and will present material on the following topics (subject to change):

 

BASIC PATROL FUNCTIONS

USE OF FORCE (LETHAL, LESS THAN LETHAL)

OUI DETECTION AND ENFORCEMENT

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

K-9 DEMONSTRATION

DRUG ENFORCEMENT

CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and more

 

The Citizens Police Academy is intended to be an overview of the Auburn Police Department’s functions and operations. Participants will not be trained as police officers. Class size is limited and will be filled on a first-come basis. Participants must attend at least eight classes to pass the Citizens Police Academy.

A background check will be performed on ALL applicants. Applicants with felony convictions or extensive criminal backgrounds will not be accepted. Application deadline: March 11.
