October 4, 2013 - Auburn, ME —The Maine Town and City Clerks’ Association recently awarded Auburn’s City Clerk, Sue Clements-Dallaire the 2013 Rookie of the Year award at the Maine Municipal Association Annual Convention on October 3, 2013 in Augusta. Given to a Town or City Clerk who has worked in the role for five years or less, the award recognizes a new clerk who has done a particularly good job in his/her community and is intended to encourage the Clerk to stay in the profession. In order to be considered for the award, clerks must have provided strong leadership during a crisis, resolved a difficult problem and/or brought new vitality and professionalism to the community.

Nominated by Auburn and Lewiston staff as well as Auburn’s elected officials, Sue has worked as City Clerk for less than two years. During her time with the City, she has streamlined Auburn’s business license process; collected more than $25,000 in past due fees; and most recently she successfully handled multiple School Budget Referendum Elections in the same year.

Mayor Jonathan LaBonté stated, “The position of City Clerk serves to bring stability to process, from elections through meeting support on parliamentary procedure, to business licensing and public information. Sue has stepped into this role humbling, yet with great professionalism and a commitment to support our community.”
