Nomination Papers Available

There is still time to take out nomination papers for municipal offices. Positions available include Mayor, seven City Council seats, and seven School Committee seats. The City Council has one representative for each of the five city wards, as well as two at-large positions available. The School Committee has one representative from each of the five city wards, as well as two at-large positions available. The Mayor is elected at-large. All positions are for a two year term of office and the term will commence within 45 days of the election. All candidates must be at least 18 years of age and a registered voter of Auburn.

 

Candidates for Mayor must submit nomination papers signed by not less than 100 qualified registered voters in Auburn. Persons interested in the at-large seats on the Council or School Committee must submit completed nomination papers signed by not less than 25 qualified voters of Auburn. Candidates for all ward positions must submit nomination papers signed by not less than 25 qualified voters of Auburn from that ward.

 

Completed nomination papers must be filed with the City Clerk's office no later than Thursday, August 22, 2013 by 5:00 P.M. All candidates are requested to file their nomination papers early in order to provide sufficient time to obtain additional signatures if neccessary. The municipal election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

 

Nomination papers may be picked up at the City Clerk's Office located on the first floor of Auburn Hall. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
