Auburn City Manager Peter Crichton is pleased to announce the selection of Sabrina Best as Director of Auburn’s new Recreation & Sports Facilities Department.

Best, who has served as Director of the Auburn Recreation Department since January of 2016, looks forward to taking the department to a new level of success, and she brings creativity, boundless energy, and organizational skills to the position.

“This new department will be an ‘enhanced’ version of our current Recreation Department,” said Crichton. “It will be formally established this July, at the beginning of the new fiscal year.”

The merging of Recreation with the Norway Savings Bank Arena and Ingersoll Turf Facility – previously stand-alone departments – will make this department one of the largest organizational units of the City’s government. Recreation, Ingersoll and Norway will all be divisions within the new department.

“As part of our strategy to make the City of Auburn a ‘sports tourism’ destination, we are realigning things to bring all of our exceptional recreational facilities under one umbrella,” said Crichton.

Ms. Best has an associate degree from Southern Maine Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University in Business Studies with a concentration in Sports Management.
