Free Medicine Disposal Day

Healthy Androscoggin would like to share with Auburn residents that our fall medicine disposal has been scheduled for September 29th, 10am-2pm at Bedard Pharmacy in Auburn.  This program is coordinated in conjunction with the Auburn Police Department, AVCOG, Lewiston-Auburn Water Pollution Control Authority, and other community organizations.  This program allows residents to bring any expired, unused, or unwanted medications they have in their homes.  It is an effort to prevent prescription drug abuse as these stores of unwanted medicines can frequently be diverted for abuse.  They also can be involved in accidental poisonings of small children and pose public safety threats in the form of home invasions and robberies.  Almost any medication can be returned with the exception of needles/syringes, electronic equipment, and items containing mercury.  The program is completely free.
