The Dempsey Challenge is being held this weekend. Please note that this community event will impact traffic - see details below. The Auburn Police Department encourages you to seek alternate routes and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep motorists and Challenge participants safe.

Bernard Lown Peace Bridge...10/07: 7:30-9:30AM; and 10/08: 7:30-8:00am.

Broad Street at South Main Street...10/07: 7:30-9:30AM; 10/08: 7:30AM-2:30PM.

Mill Street at Riverside Drive...10/07: 7:30-9:30AM; 10/08: 7:30-8:00AM.

On Saturday, 10/7, the Bernard Lown Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 07:30 to 9:30AM. The 5K will start at Simard-Payne Park in Lewiston and enter Auburn via the bridge. Runners will follow Broad Street to Mill Street, continue onto Main, turn down Millers Alley and follow the Riverwalk back to Lewiston. The 10-K race follows the same route. We anticipate that both races will be completed before noon.

On Sunday, 10/8, the Dempsey Challenge bicycle ride will take place. Bicycles will start on the Lewiston side of the Bernard Lown Bridge at 7:30AM. The Bridge will be closed for approximately twenty minutes in all, as different waves of bikes take off. Bicycles will take a left turn onto Riverside Drive (Rt. 136) and follow it to the outskirts of Auburn. The Family Fun Bicycle Ride will begin as soon as the last wave of bikers has crossed the bridge. We anticipate that the entire bicycle portion will be completed by 4:30PM.
