CITY WELCOMES DIRECTOR BACK TO AUBURN

Auburn City Manager Peter Crichton is pleased to announce the selection of Marc Gosselin as Director of Auburn’s new Recreation & Sports Facilities Department.

Gosselin, who served as General Manager of Norway Savings Bank Arena between 2015 and 2017, will return in this expanded leadership role beginning on November 26. Gosselin, who is leaving his current position with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, will oversee Auburn’s Recreation Department and various recreation facilities, including Norway Savings Bank Arena and Ingersoll Turf Facility.

A Lewiston native, Gosselin has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Farmington and a master’s in business from Southern New Hampshire University. He worked previously for the Lewiston Maineiacs, Portland Pirates, Central Maine Community College and the Maine Red Claws. During his time managing Norway Savings Bank Arena, he also served as Executive Director of Sports Tourism.

“I am excited to be back in Maine not only for personal reasons, but also to be working for - and with - the great people who support sports and recreation in the City of Auburn,” said Gosselin. “I am thrilled to accept this opportunity to play a role in this new team approach to Recreation.”
Auburn’s new Recreation & Sports Facilities Department will encompass all things recreation within the City, from Hasty Community Center, to Parks, to Ingersoll Turf Facility and the Arena.

Crichton is equally delighted to announce that Sabrina Best will assume the role of Deputy Director of the new department, continuing her exemplary service to the City of Auburn as an integral part of the RSFD team. Best, who has served as Recreation Director since January of 2016, looks forward to helping to making the new department a resounding success.

“This new department will be an ‘enhanced’ version of our current Recreation Department,” said Best. “This realignment brings all of our exceptional recreational facilities under one umbrella and makes us one team.”

Other members of new department will include Jeremy Gatcomb, current General Manager of Ingersoll Turf Facility, who will serve as Superintendent of Recreation; and Rory Mushlin, of Bloomington, IL, who will come on board as Operations Manager at Norway Savings Bank Arena. Mushlin will begin on November 26 as well.

“The overall goal is to not only continue to provide quality services, programming and facilities to this great community,” said Gosselin, “but also to explore ways to enhance our programs, create long lasting community partnerships and showcase what we have to our residents and those who visit the City of Auburn.”
