FREE 8:00am-3:00pm Childcare Coverage NOW AVAILABLE!!

DOWNLOAD PROGRAM INFORMATION

We are excited to announce that the City of Auburn has received a grant from the Maine Department of Education Coronavirus Relief Fund specific for day programming for school age children!

What this means: These funds will offset program costs from 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday. The program allows for up to 3 days of coverage (4/5-day coverage not permitted).

Length of Grant: This grant will be for a 15-week period and cover program costs from September 14 – December 22. Our plan is to have a set roster by October 1 and stick with that roster until December 22, so we are seeing the same kids for the rest of the 2020 calendar year. Pending how this fall/early winter go (with in-person school days), we anticipate running this program for the remainder of the school year. We should know by December if another round of grants has been awarded and what costs will be for the 2021 portion of the program.

Does this cover non-school days? This grant is for school days only and does NOT include teacher workshop days, holidays, or vacation days. Auburn Recreation will offer all-day childcare for those days ($20 a day). December Vacation Camp will have discounted pricing.

Before/After Care: We will be offering a before/after care package for $15 a day at the HASTY location ONLY. This will cover mornings from 7:15-8:00am and afternoons from 3:00-5:30pm. If you enroll in before/after care, we will charge your account, in advance, for 1 months’ worth of days. Staff will communicate when those charges will be coming, what days they cover, and final costs.

Additional Locations: We have secured additional locations within Auburn if we need space to add more kids. Additional locations are contingent upon proper staffing levels.

Back-up Plans: We are prepared to transition this program into ESSENTIAL full-day childcare if the schools move to all-remote due to a spike in cases or an outbreak. If schools return a full-time schedule, this program will transition into a before/aftercare program (cost unknown at this time).

Registration Capacity: We currently have LIMITED openings for both our K-6th and 7-8th grade offerings, but as we secure more staff for the Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday options, we will add kids from our waitlist. Please make sure you enroll on the waitlist for the days you need so as soon as staff is secured, we can add kids. Note: for every 1 staff member we can add 10 kids.
