1 in 4 Property Inspections – Assessing Office

The Assessing Office will be conducting property inspections in certain areas of the City beginning the week of September 19, 2016. Pursuant to Maine Revised Statutes, Title 36 §328, the Assessing Office has an obligation to perform “physical inspections and inventory” of property located within the City. Our target is to inspect 25% of the parcels each year, this process is known as the “1 in 4” inspections.

At a minimum, we will be inspecting the exteriors of buildings located in the defined inspection areas. We are also taking new photos to update the property record. The Assessing staff person who visits your property will have City Identification and will knock on the front door prior to the inspection.

We plan to start our inspections in the downtown areas of Auburn. Click the map link to see if we will be visiting your area. Any areas within the red boxes are targeted for inspections: 1 in 4 Target Areas
